Who We Are
Cowen Landscapes have been designing and maintaining gardens for over 10 years. While achieving the highest possible standards in both garden design and maintenance our clients wishes always come first.
A design that works for you and your family is our first priority.
At the same time our ethos is that the simpler the design the more impact it will have. That puts huge emphasis on the quality of detailing, an example of which can be seen in the garden at Westerham, where the benches were designed to emphasise the circular theme of the concept - as well as being practical and good to look at.
Planting plans require the same amount of thought and consideration but with a simple garden layout the plants will always show up more strongly and speak for themselves.
Our team is made up of 2 designers and 2 gardeners.
The individuals in the design team have a Dip A D and CMLI. The Dip A D relates to Furniture Design, (now plants trees having once cut them down), while the CMLI is a recognized landscape qualification. These qualifications are combined with an HND in agriculture and ecology, two RHS qualifications, several College based courses and many years experience. Andrew Cowen has also written articles and book reviews, one of which is for the Garden Design Journal www.sgd.org.uk on Rosemary Alexander's second edition of The Essential Garden Design Workbook, October 2009.
We also have other staff who work for us on a part-time basis helping with projects with a wildlife basis and in the office.
